“Cinema Has The Power To Start Important Conversations”: Janvi Doshi On Producing Condumb
'Cinema Has The Power To Start Important Conversations': Janvi Doshi On Producing Condumb

Hyderabad-based producer Janvi Doshi has turned a long-cherished dream into reality with the launch of Shreenathji Media Works. Teaming up with industry veteran Kaushik Thakkar, she has stepped into content creation with a purpose-driven vision. Their first notable venture, Condumb, is a short film that seeks to spark conversations around sexual health, awareness, and social responsibility through a relatable narrative.

For Janvi, the journey into production has been years in the making. Family commitments and the responsibility of raising her children meant that her ambition of starting a production house had to take a backseat.

"I always wanted to open my own production house, but because of my family responsibilities and my children, I had to give up that dream for some time. Now that my children have grown up and I have more freedom to focus on my aspirations, I decided it was finally time to pursue it," Janvi says.

The turning point came when she reconnected with her old friend Kaushik Thakkar, who has spent nearly two decades in the entertainment industry.

"I met my old friend Kaushik Thakkar, who has been in the industry for around 20 years. We discussed our ideas and eventually planned to start a production house together. That's how Shreenathji Media Works was born," she shares.

The duo's short film Condumb reflects Janvi's belief that cinema can be a powerful medium for addressing social issues and challenging long-standing taboos.

"As a producer, I believe cinema has the power to start important conversations. Condoms are not just about contraception; they are also about health, safety, responsibility and informed choice," she says.

Janvi feels that despite growing awareness, discussions around sexual health remain uncomfortable for many people.

"Despite their importance, many people still feel uncomfortable discussing condoms openly. Through this short film, I wanted to address that stigma in a creative and relatable way," she explains.

For the producer, Condumb is more than just a film—it's an attempt to educate while entertaining.

"My goal is to educate, raise awareness and encourage healthier attitudes towards sexual health while telling a meaningful and engaging story," she concludes.

With Condumb, Janvi Doshi and Shreenathji Media Works hope to create content that not only engages audiences but also encourages conversations that society often avoids.
