'Secret Invasion': Nick Fury Grapples with Age and Post-Blip Trauma

The upcoming Marvel Studios series "Secret Invasion" will see Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) dealing with the fallout of the Blip and the resulting trauma that has left him feeling lost and out of touch.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson spoke about how Fury's character has changed since we last saw him in "Avengers: Endgame." "He's lost something," Jackson said. "He's not the person he used to be."

This change in Fury is evident in the trailers for "Secret Invasion," which show him looking older and more tired than ever before. He is also seen wearing an eyepatch, which suggests that he may have been injured during the Blip.

In addition to his physical and emotional changes, Fury is also struggling to adapt to a new world order. The Skrulls, who were once thought to be benevolent aliens, have now revealed themselves to be invaders. This has left Fury questioning everything he thought he knew about the world and his place in it.

"He's having to reassess who he is, what he's doing, and how he's doing it," Jackson said. "He's trying to figure out how to be relevant again."

Fury's journey of self-discovery will be a major part of "Secret Invasion." As he comes to terms with his age, his trauma, and the changing world around him, he will also find a new sense of purpose.

"He finds ways to strengthen himself so that he can be up to the task at hand," Jackson said. "He's not going to go down without a fight."

"Secret Invasion" will also feature Olivia Coleman as Sonya Falsworth, a high-ranking MI6 agent who is not afraid to challenge Fury. Coleman described their relationship as "frenemies," and said that Sonya is "trying to spur him on" even though she doesn't always agree with his methods.

"She does it, in a weird way, out of a sort of love," Coleman said. "'Please be careful.'"

"Secret Invasion" premieres on Disney+ on August 10.
