"Kuch Reet Jagat Ki Aisi Hai" actress Anupama Solanki says that the industry is slowly transitioning to incorporating more options in terms of viewing platforms; however, she adds that none of these can replace the big screen.
“The industry is definitely in a transition phase. The rise of OTT platforms has given audiences more options, and people are enjoying watching content at home. But, as much as OTT has become popular, I still believe there’s no substitute for the big-screen experience. The magic of watching a film in a theatre, with the sound, visuals, and shared atmosphere, is something special. Films were always meant to be a larger-than-life experience, and that’s something you can only get in theatres,” she says.
Films like K3G, Maine Pyaar Kiya, RHTDM, Tumbaad, and Veera Zara have been re-released. Talking about the same, she says, “It’s amazing to see older films getting re-released in theatres and still drawing audiences. I think it shows that certain stories are timeless. These films have an emotional connection with the audience, and many people want to relive that magic or experience it for the first time on the big screen. This trend also proves that a good film never gets old.”
She adds, “I personally love watching larger-than-life films in theatres. I enjoy action-packed movies, thrillers, and big historical dramas with grand visuals. But I also like films with deep emotions and powerful storytelling. It depends on my mood, but anything that offers a big-screen experience is something I’d love to watch in a theatre.”
She says that the audiences have become critical when it comes to accepting content now. “The audience’s choices have become quite unpredictable. A film with great promotions and a big star cast may not always do well, while sometimes a smaller film becomes a surprise hit. I think it shows that audiences are looking for something fresh and relatable. It’s not just about the stars anymore; it’s more about the story and how it connects with people. That’s why it’s hard to predict what will work, and that’s why we’re seeing so much variety in the kind of films being made,” she says.
