Blockbuster Films – Hanuman Ansh & URI: The Surgical Strike

New Delhi [India], September 26: Each song Shantanu Sudame sung, became chartbusters. What are the chances?

As Shantanu says, “Honestly, the chances were pretty slim!”

He continues, “As artists, we can only do our work and try to do it to the best of our ability. Whether a film or a song becomes a massive success is ultimately beyond our control.”

“So, the fact that the songs I have sung for Hanuman Ansh and URI went on to receive such a tremendous response is something I feel genuinely grateful for. It’s one of those moments when you realise that sometimes, everything simply comes together beautifully.”

He tells us, “The story behind Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai is actually quite wonderfully accidental!

The music composer of the film, Dhirendra Mulkalwar, is a dear friend. At the time, I was working with him on the background score of Hanuman Ansh, contributing guitars and recording chorus.

One day, Dhiru bhai called and said, “Bhai, yeh chorus ka part fatafat gaa kar bhej do please.”

He sent me the part—which was the Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai chorus and the Sitaram section at the end. I recorded it, sent it across and completely forgot about it. A few days later, Dhiru suddenly said, “Yaar, Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai ka mukhda karna hai aur abhi approval ke liye bhejna hai.”

I said, “Theek hai, lyrics de do.”

He replied, “Aap hi scratch lyrics nipta do, phir baad mein dekhte hain.”

So I asked him for the tune.

He simply said, “Main tune bana raha hoon, aap lyrics niptao tab tak.”

And somehow, in that room, everything just came together.”

Since the track had to be sent for approval, I quickly recorded a scratch version with my voice, and we sent it across. After that, well…Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai!“

When asked about his previous blockbuster – Manzar Hai Ye Naya, he said “I was working with Shashwat Sachdeva on an entirely different project when I received a call from his studio. They were looking for a voice for a song and asked if I could sing the scratch.
